Sugars and Inflammations

Welcome to part three of my mini-series on sugar and the effect it has on our health. We've already had a look at how sugar affects fat storage and part of the role it plays in aging. Today we'll look at inflammation in the body and what sugar has to do with it. All it takes is a couple of teaspoons of sugar a day for the inflammation levels in our body to increase significantly. When you consider current sugar consumption trends - South American countries consume over 51 kg of sugar per person per year (or 28 teaspoons per day), Oceania and Canada are not far behind at nearly 48 kg of sugar per person per year (or 26 teaspoons per day), Europe comes in at about 38.5 kg of sugar per person per year (or 21 teaspoons per day), the United States slightly higher at about 40 kg or sugar per person per year (or 22 teaspoons per day), and even Asian and African countries consume 18 kg and 15 kg of sugar per person per year respectively (that's nearly 10 teaspoons and 8 teaspoons ...
